The APA’s Housing & Community Development Division is updating its bylaws
The H&CD Division Executive Committee has been working with the APA National and Division Councils Leadership to update our By-laws. The changes of note are to expand various Officer Positions on the Executive Committee as follows:
We are splitting the position of Secretary-Treasurer into two distinct Officer Positions so as to ease the burden and provide a degree of separation between these roles;
We are adding an At-Large Officer Position to assist with the various responsibilities being taken on by the Executive Committee, including content creation, event planning, and the coordination of specially-designated subcommittees; and
We are elevating the position of Student Liaison to an Officer Position to improve our outreach to the next generation of planners and to promote the importance of Housing and Community Development in the education of future planners.
With the current Officer Positions of Division Chair, Vice-Chair, and Immediate Past-Chair, these amendments will give our Executive Committee a total of seven (7) Officer Positions which will not only assist in the day-to-day operations of the H&CD Division, but will also provide more of our members with an opportunity to serve on the Executive Committee, and it will provide a longer legacy of leadership and a continuity of institutional knowledge within our Division for many years to come.
This draft has been reviewed and discussed with APA National and Divisions Council Chair. Our next step is to get members input and questions, in the next two weeks, with a deadline of Friday, May 22nd, 2020 by 5pm CDT. Please find the proposed By-Laws here. Members may provide comments by accessing the Google Form here.
The APA Housing & Community Development Division Business Plan is also available for review.
Please find the proposed FY2020 Business Plan here.
Your questions and comments are welcome and we invite you to send any comments to the Division Chair, Brian Loughlin AIA (please include HCD ByLaws in the subject line).
After the two week review period has closed, the Executive Committee will review all member comments and input. Members will be able to vote on the final proposed By-Laws at our Annual Business meeting on May 29th, 2020 at 12noon CDT.
